Line and Grade is a civil engineering and land-use consulting firm. We are a small interdisciplinary team of dedicated, passionate, and creative professionals who love to explore the limits of what our profession can offer. Our work is primarily (but not exclusively) in Central Virginia. We specialize in assisting local agencies, institutions, and development partners with informed expertise to build projects that last, and which will be of tangible benefit to the communities they serve.
Job Description

Use professional judgment to independently complete engineering design tasks

Assist the Project Manager, or act as the project manager, to work toward specific project tasks

Ability to make engineering/design decisions based on informed inputs and professional judgment while understanding and coordination the impacts of such decisions.

Proactively identifies technical, schedule, and financial challenges/opportunities and works with the team to resolve and guide appropriate action

Monitor and supervise construction projects and field personnel
-
Capable to communicate technical matters with internal team and external collaborators
Qualifications and Skills
-
Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of experience and have an Engineer-in-Training certificate. Licensed Professional Engineering candidates are preferred.

Intermediate AutoCAD/Civil 3D experience

Familiarity with, and willingness to advance in, analysis programs (Excel, Hydrology software, etc.)

Exhibit perseverance in professional work and a willingness to solve complex design challenges

Ability to share similar work products (designs, reports, calculations) and expound upon work experience

Experience working on projects centered around the public realm and common spaces is a plus
