In 2022, Line and Grade conducted a thorough forensic investigation to identify why the Downtown Mall vehicular crossing’s pavement was failing and what could be done about it. Our report detailed the numerous deficiencies related to the failure of the vehicular crossings and made specific recommendations as to what could be done to remedy the conditions.
Two years later, in 2024, Line and Grade was hired to develop repair plans for the vehicular crossings based on the recommendations laid out in our 2022 study.
In April 2025, our repair plans were approved by the Board of Architectural Review (BAR). While the recommendations were not necessarily preferred by the BAR, the board members recognized that in order to maintain the crossing in an serviceable condition, certain elements needed to be detailed differently. Ultimately, the board deferred to our expertise on what constituted durable and serviceable conditions of modular paving systems subject to the varied forces experienced in this environment.
The final construction documents are under review with city engineers. Construction is expected to begin in Q4 2025.
